Preparation Steps
- Peel the onions and slice them into 1 cm thick rings, separating the rings and setting aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, water, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk until smooth and thick.
- Mix panko breadcrumbs with a pinch of salt and black pepper in another bowl.
- Set up a dredging station with bowls of dry flour, the batter, and seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Coat each onion ring in the dry flour, dip in the batter, then roll in breadcrumbs before placing on a greased plate.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (392°F) for 3-4 minutes. Arrange coated rings in the basket, spray with oil, and air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Remove onion rings from the air fryer once crispy and golden, let cool slightly, and serve with dips.
