Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Fold in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract until fully blended.
  5. Whisk the flour and salt, then fold into the chocolate batter until just combined.
  6. Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  8. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack.
  9. Slice the cake horizontally and spread apricot jam between the layers.
  10. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan, stir until dissolved, then add chocolate to make glaze.
  11. Pour the glaze over the cake and let it set before serving.
