Step-by-Step Instructions for Tuxedo Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them and lining with parchment paper.
- Sift together all dry ingredients. In another bowl, whisk wet ingredients, then gradually mix wet into dry, adding hot water until smooth.
- Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
- While cooling, heat heavy cream and whisk with egg yolks and cornstarch until thickened. Divide and stir in dark and white chocolate until smooth.
- Once cooled, gently fold whipped cream into each chocolate mixture until airy.
- On a serving plate, layer cake, spread dark chocolate mousse, and top with the second cake layer and white chocolate mousse. Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Heat remaining heavy cream, pour over milk chocolate, and stir until smooth to create ganache.
- Pour ganache over cooled cake and chill for 30 minutes before slicing.
