Step-by-Step Instructions for Tuxedo Cake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them and lining with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together all dry ingredients. In another bowl, whisk wet ingredients, then gradually mix wet into dry, adding hot water until smooth.
  3. Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  4. While cooling, heat heavy cream and whisk with egg yolks and cornstarch until thickened. Divide and stir in dark and white chocolate until smooth.
  5. Once cooled, gently fold whipped cream into each chocolate mixture until airy.
  6. On a serving plate, layer cake, spread dark chocolate mousse, and top with the second cake layer and white chocolate mousse. Chill for at least 2 hours.
  7. Heat remaining heavy cream, pour over milk chocolate, and stir until smooth to create ganache.
  8. Pour ganache over cooled cake and chill for 30 minutes before slicing.
