Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by slicing one large onion and laying the pieces at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  2. Place a 3-4 pound beef roast directly on top of the sliced onions.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix two cups of beef broth with 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Pour over the beef.
  4. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and black pepper over the roast. Add salt to taste.
  5. Cover your slow cooker and set it to cook on LOW for 8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours.
  6. Once cooking is completed, carefully remove the beef roast from the slow cooker and shred it.
  7. Strain out the onions from the slow cooker, leaving the broth behind. Mix 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with cold water to form a slurry and stir into the broth.
  8. Serve by placing slices of bread on plates, topping with mashed potatoes, shredded beef, and gravy.
