Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cream the butter and powdered sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and milk.
  2. Gradually mix in flour, salt, vanilla extract, and almond extract to form a soft dough.
  3. Divide the dough into three portions and color portions with purple and black food coloring.
  4. Roll out the black and white dough into rectangles and stack them. Roll the colored dough into a log.
  5. Wrap the purple log in the layered dough and roll tightly to form a spiral.
  6. Chill the log in plastic wrap for at least 1 hour.
  7. After chilling, slice the log into rounds and place on baking sheets. Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
